Rankin Culture and Recreation Centre, Pembroke

Take thirty children, eight grades, a brand new teacher, a one room schoolhouse in rural Ontario and add a little twist and shout as the Swinging Sixties meet SS #7 in Stone Fence Theatre’s new musical comedy, Miss Pringle’s Mini-Skirt, by Johanna Zomers. The show opens July 24 at the Rankin Culture and Recreation Centre and runs through October 6, with 11 dessert theatre performances including three Sunday matinees in Fall, plus a special dinner gala with guest stars on Friday, October 4.

Written by Johanna Zomers with Ish Theilheimer and Kathy Eisner, the two-act play casts a fond look back at the final days of rural schoolhouses as the Ottawa Valley discovered the Beatles, the Cold War and Hockey Night in Canada. The show is directed by Shirley Hill and Sarah Wright, with musical direction by the show’s producer, Ish Theilheimer, who wrote the music, with the help of Clint Degarie, Kirk Harber and Dexter Sernoskie.

It features an enthusiastic and adorable cast of ten children and youth, plus Stone Fence Theatre veterans Ambrose Mullin, Will March, Ryan Webster, Sarah Wright and Tabitha Green.

The cost of a dessert theatre show ticket is $42 & HST or $15 for youth. Desserts are provided by Schmidt’s Catering, with hand-crafted coffee and tea from Madawaska Coffee.

The October 4 dinner show gala features a roast beef dinner by Schmidt’s Catering, with hand-crafted coffee and tea from Madawaska Coffee and perfomances by a dazzling array of guest stars. The cost is $89 & HST.
